Building Info
The 230 Fifth Avenue building was built in 1914 and was formerly known as the "Lighting Building". In the early 1990's, the building was converted into a wholesale showroom building for the home industries, which is now known as The New York MarketCenterTM.
At 230 Fifth Avenue, you'll find 20 floors with over 200 companies housing a diverse collection of product lines and categories. The product categories include Home Textiles, Fine Gifts, Tabletop, Bed and Bath Linens, Kitchen, Furniture, Window Treatments, Stationery, Personal Care, Apparel, Decorative Accessories, Home Furnishings, Gourmet, Collectibles, Holiday, Toys, Dolls and Plush, Architectural Products, Art and General Merchandise.
Location & Transportation
The New York MarketCenterTM is situated on Fifth Avenue between 26th and 27th Streets, north of Madison Square Park. The building is accessible by car, subway, bus, and taxicab. The subways that reach the building are the W, the R and the #6 subways (at 23rd or 28th Street stops), the NJ Path and the F (at 23rd Street & 6th Avenue or 33rd & 6th Avenue), and by the M2, M3, and M5 buses which travel south on Fifth Avenue.
When driving to the city to shop at 230 Fifth Avenue, you may park at many parking garages within a few blocks of the building. You'll find most of these on side streets between Fifth Avenue and Broadway, and on 6th Avenue between 25th and 26th Streets.

Trade Show Registration
All buyers and visitors must register at the front lobby Buyer's Information Desk during trade shows. Photo identification and two forms of business identification; including a tax id number or resale certificate and a complete business card are required. Upon verification of proper identification, the buyers will receive a 230 Fifth Avenue badge. 230 Fifth Avenue honors badges from 41 Madison Avenue, 7 West New York and the Jacob Javits Center. However, we do require a business card and photo identification during trade shows, even if you have previously registered with us.
At the Buyer's Information Desk, buyers can inquire about showroom openings and other services available. Complimentary copies of the latest trade publications are available free of charge during trade shows at the Buyer's Information Desk. Buyers may also obtain the latest updated building directory of the 230 showrooms and information on upcoming shows. Not all showrooms are open during trade shows. Some showrooms operate by appointment only. Buyers should contact individual showrooms regarding openings.

230 Fifth Rooftop Restaurant & Lounge
As May 4, 2006, 230 Fifth officially opened to the public on the 20th floor and rooftop of the 230 Fifth Avenue building. The 22,000 square foot restaurant includes an open outdoor lounge with 360 degree views of New York as well as an indoor lounge and intimate restaurant with Malaysian food by Chef Zak Pelaccio.
The restaurant and lounge hours are Monday thru Sunday from 4pm to 4am. It is accessible through the back lobby elevators of 230 Fifth Avenue on the 20th floor. No reservations are required for small groups under 6 people.

Antique Cafe
As of December 2008, the Antique Cafe has opened permanently for business in the rear lobby of 230 Fifth Avenue. Its days and hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 8:30am-5pm. The cafe offers a selection of soup, gourmet sandwiches, salads, baked goods, meals and pastries. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cappuccino, espresso and soft drinks are also available.
As an added service, the Antique Cafe has Wi-Fi accessibility for buyers or visitors that may need access to the internet on their laptops.
The Antique Cafe offers the building's tenants and buyers the convenience of purchasing food or beverages without having a need to leave the building. During market weeks, complimentary breakfast and coffee as well as afternoon snacks and refreshments are offered to all registered buyers.
A variety of services are offered by the Antique Cafe. Catering is available and can be customized to suite your needs. Other services include private parties at their locations and a series of popular prix fixe wine pairing dinners featuring a single nation or region with matching wines for each course.

As of April 2007, Lois Lane Travel has re-located to 230 Fifth Avenue's rear lobby Suite 4 offering discounted hotel and travel accomodations. Since 1978, Lois Lane Travel has catered to clients in the neighborhood's market buildings.

230 Fifth Avenue is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week with at least one on-site security guard present at the front lobby desk. The general showroom hours of operation for the 230 Fifth Avenue building are Monday through Friday from 9am thru 5pm. Not all showrooms are open daily. Some showrooms operate by appointment only. Please call individual showrooms before visiting them for hours and openings.
Holidays
Holidays observed by building personnel and showrooms in the building are: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Day after New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Please call individual showrooms before visiting regarding their policy concerning holidays not listed above as well as their openings for holidays that are listed above.
Policies
- 230 Fifth Avenue is open to the trade only.
- Registration is required at the front lobby desk.
- Building badges must be visible at all times.
- Large items, furniture, boxes, etc. cannot be brought into the building through the front lobby entrance.
- The freight entrance located at 27th Street & Broadway should be used.
- Pets are not permitted in the building.
- No smoking is permitted anywhere in the building.
